Battery Storage

Solar energy is an amazing way to reduce your reliance on non-renewable energy sources. Generating your own energy at home allows you to become energy self-sufficient, avoid rising energy costs, and avoid power outages. You can further boost your efforts by pairing your solar panel system with solar energy battery storage.

Solar battery storage is used to store the excess electricity generated by your solar panels to be used when needed; this could be at night or during periods of higher energy demand. Utilising solar energy battery storage allows you to further reduce your reliance on the grid and maximise benefits. Solar battery storage makes an excellent addition to your home’s solar panel setup and can be tailored to suit your unique needs.

How does solar energy battery storage work?

  1. Solar panels are made from photovoltaic (PV) cells, which have two layers of silicon, one with a positive charge and one with a negative charge. Sunlight hits the solar panels’ cells, absorbing the sunlight’s photons.
  2. The photons absorbed by the cells then loosen the electrons from the material’s atoms, giving them energy to move, creating an electric direct current (DC).
  3. An inverter converts the DC electricity to alternating current (AC) which is fed into the home’s electrical system and your solar battery storage. This solar energy battery storage is then used to provide energy whenever it is needed.

Benefits of solar battery storage

Energy independence: Solar battery storage allows you to use your excess energy when you need it, giving you greater control.

Lower energy bills: Utilising solar energy battery storage can help you reduce or remove your reliance on the power grid, helping you lower your monthly electricity costs.

Backup power: Solar energy battery storage can be very useful during emergencies and can be used as backup power during power outages.

Long-term cost savings: Investing in solar battery storage can add greater value to your home and help pay for itself in savings over time.

Earn money back: You can sell excess energy you create back to the grid, making your energy costs even lower.

Battery storage options

We have 3 options for our customers who are looking for battery storage services. The first option is a hybrid system; this includes purchasing both a solar panel system and battery storage. The other two options include the purchase of just the battery storage system, to be either added to a preexisting solar panel setup or used alone to store cheaper energy from off-peak times.

Hybrid system: You can purchase both a solar panel system and a battery from The Energy Experts to start your greener energy journey. A hybrid system allows you to personalise your system to your home and take advantage of the full benefits by storing the energy for later use. Excess energy can also be sold back to the grid to help you offset the price of the installation.

Battery for existing systems: This option is great for customers that have an existing solar system but no battery and are looking to increase the benefit of their existing system. Adding a battery to your current setup allows you to store the excess energy you create to use later or sell back to the grid.

Battery only: You can purchase a battery storage-only system to power your home that charges from the electricity grid. These batteries charge during off-peak hours when electricity rates are lower, saving you money during peak times. This option is great for those who are looking to utilise green energy but don’t have a suitable roof for solar panels.
